Technology Clubs

This year we are proud to offer several technology club options for students grades 3-8. Below is a description of each club along with links to additional information. You must pre-register for each club.

PLEASE NOTE: All of the technology clubs are part of the Extended Day Program. If you are not already a part of the Extended Care Program you will be charged the hourly rate for your student to attend these clubs.

Genius Squad is a technical club. Students participating in this club will become the school technical crew that can help with basic troubleshooting and maintenance for computers, software, projectors, Promethean boards and other electronics. After we complete the training course, we will move on to projects that including building and inventing electronic devices that can include wearable electronic jewelry to motion sensor alarms and everything in between.

VexIQ Robotics Club is a competitive club. We will be building robots and completing projects to compete locally against other schools and teams to qualify to go to the regional and state tournaments. You can find more information about VEXIQ Robotics here and about this year's challenge here.  There is an additional fee to cover the cost of registering teams, buying the yearly challenge materials and any additional supplies we may need. We have been given access to the robotics kits for free, which would normally cost almost $4000. Our basic cost will be around $500. Of course, if we make it to State or National competitions, that would be an additional cost.

Coding Club is focused on learning the basics of coding for games and apps. We will start with block-based programming developing simple games and applications. We will also learn the basics of html and css and build and maintain webpages. Students who have more experience or are more advanced can progress at their own speed and move onto more complex projects.
