We offer a variety of extra-curricular activities to match the diverse interests of our student body. Our extra-curricular programs educate the whole being of our students. Activities meet on campus and are guided by faculty members. Students are encouraged to take part in at least one school activity.

At Saint Leo the Great we offer students the opportunity to join in the following extracurricular activities:

  • Athletics (Grades 3-8)

  • Yearbook (Grades 6-8)

  • Student Council (Grades 3-8)

  • Student Ambassador (Grades 5-8)

  • Peace Patrol (Grades 6-8)

  • Praise Dance (Grades 2-8)

  • Cheer (Grades 3-8)

  • Gospel Choir (Grades 3-8)

  • Robotics (Grades 4-8)

ATHLETICS

Our athletics program is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8. Students practice after-school and games take place on the weekend. Saint Leo the Great participates in the Oakland Diocese Catholic Youth organization, an athletic program for elementary and junior high age youth in parishes in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Oakland.

CHEERLEADING

The cheerleading squad at Saint Leo the Great promotes teamwork, positive self-image, and sportsmanship. Students on the cheerleading team learn dance routines and lead fans in supporting our basketball season. Cheerleading is offered to students in grades 3-8.

YEARBOOK

Our yearbook program at Saint Leo the Great is offered to students grade 6-8. Last year, our school partnered with a fast-growing, innovative web platform, called TreeRing. Under the supervision of faculty, students interact with TreeRing to manipulate photos and design the yearbook. Throughout the year, students photograph activities and organize the yearbook layout. Yearbook involves meeting once a-week after school, as well as teacher-approved time during the school day. Yearbook allows for a creative and interactive way for students to become highly-effective communicators and develop life-long skills.

STUDENT COUNCIL

Student Council is a student run organization representing grades 3-8. Students take part in monthly service activities throughout the school year, that involve the entire student body. With the guidance of faculty advisors, the student council helps create a sense of community within our school family.

PEACE PATROL

Students in grades 6-8 have the opportunity to participate in our Peace Patrol Program. As a participant, students learn conflict resolution and are empowered to use peaceful strategies in resolving conflicts among their peers during recess. Conflict resolution is a critical part in student leadership and in the moral development of students.

STUDENT AMBASSADORS

Student Ambassadors at Saint Leo the Great represent our school by providing school tours to new families, periodically speaking as a representative of our school off-campus, visiting local preschools to read to younger children, and make donations to other organizations in the community on behalf of the families in our school.

PRAISE DANCE

By learning and performing praise dance, students get the chance to use their bodies and the art of movement to help express the word and spirit of God. Praise dance is offered to students in grades 2-8.

GOSPEL CHOIR

Students who participate in our gospel choir have an enriching experience developing their knowledge and growing their skill in music while also sharing an expression of their religious faith in community.

ROBOTICS

The Robotics Camp introduces student to VEX IQ Robotics. Students will build, drive and program a robot to meet a specific challenge. There will be various competitions that the team can compete in with other teams in the Diocese. Students do not have to have any robotics experience prior to joining.
